With over 65,000 kms of trails, Switzerland has no shortage of hiking trails to test you both mentally and physically, and leave you satisfied. Hiking is never about the destination, its all about the journey.

1. Hohenweg Hohbalmen

The trail takes you up a steep ascend and into a challenging larch forest. Once you on the top, take a moment, turn around and appreciate the fantastic bird’s eye view of the village of Zermatt. Moving forward you will be invited by the alpine covers with some of Switzerland’s highest peaks Matterhorn and Zmutt Glacier. The panoramic view from the top is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking.

2. The Faulhornwah

Another one of Switzerland’s beautiful hikes, it offers you a full panoramic view of Jungfrau aka The Top of Europe. We might as well call it a hiker’s dream. The hike also brings you an overlooking view of the city of Interlaken, graced by glistening lakes on both sides. A very few treks offer an experience as complete as this. It covers everything from Switzerland’s snow-capped mountains touching the heavens to beautiful meadows and alpine covered areas.

Duration: 6-8 hours

3. Riffelsee-Sunnegga

Another one of Zermatt’s beauty, this hike from Riffelsee to Sunnegga brings to you a beautiful panoramic view of the majestic Matterhorn mountain. The hike is complete with postcard-perfect views and an experience of a lifetime. Be prepared to be left in awe by the mirror reflections of iconic mountains in fresh glacial lakes.

Duration: 3-5 hours

4. Lac de Louvie

The trail presents to you the sightings of iconic mountains like Mont Blanc massif, Val de Bagnes, Ibex, Chamois. Crossing the Termin pass, you will come across a beautiful lake with ancient barns at its head. You can camp and rest at the lake and enjoy the nature and fresh air.

Passing around the lake you will find the beautiful view of the Grand Combin massif and into dense forest concluding the trek. The trek is a challenge but every turn will take you through beautiful sights of legendary mountains and mesmerizing scenery.

5. Murren

Lauterbrunnen is the world’s largest glacial valley. Ringed by 72 waterfalls and the legendary Yosemite. The hike gives you a view like no other and the variety is spectacular. Be it the beautiful village of Gimmelwald, or meadows and small farms, not to mention massive mountains and beautiful waterfalls. This hike has everything for you to experience and fall in love with.

Duration: 3-4 hours
