1. Hikes and Trails

Interlaken’s hikes and trails are probably the easiest and most scenic ones in Switzerland. There are trails like Panoramaweg, a two-hour circuit or Pizol’s Five Lake four to five-hour circuit which are worth exploring. The difficulty and durations vary on these treks and hikes and one can choose what suits them.

2. Highest Railway Station in Europe, Jungfraujoch

The highest railway station in Europe, at 3,454 meters above sea level is an absolute must visit. Especially because it takes you to Jungfrujoch, which is one of the most famous attractions in Switzerland. On a clear day, the station platform is said to have a view as far as Italy, Germany, and France.

3. Paragliding

4. Skydiving

If you enjoy Paragliding, then Skydiving will give you a new high. Jumping off a small prop-plane with an experienced instructor and into the beautiful sights that Interlaken has to offer is an experience of a lifetime. The bird’s eye view of the Alps or the lakes Thunz and Brienz are magnificent. If you are hungry for an adventure, a nerve-racking experience coupled with an absolutely incredible view, then Skydiving is your thing to do.

5. St. Beatus Caves

A famous legend says that after driving a fire-breathing dragon into Lake Thun, Saint Beatus chose St. Beatus Cave for his hermitage. The caves feature gorges, incredible limestone structures, and stunning underground waterfalls. Not only do waterfalls flow inside, but they also pour on the exterior of the mountain. A cave museum with guided tours starts every 30 min is a good way to explore the caves.

6. The Oberhofen Castle

The enchanting Oberhofen Castle displays beautiful and unique architecture, as well as an insight into the 16th-19th century way of life. The castle offers an incredible view of a lake, a harmonious garden along the riverbank, a historic museum, and a whimsical lakeside turret. The chapel is in use for baptisms and weddings to this day.

7. Weissenau Nature Reserve

On the east shore of Lake Thun, just outside Unterseen is the Weissenau Nature Reserve blessed with sumptuous views of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. The reserve is a great place to have a family picnic and enjoy some peace. The reserve is also home to the ruins of Weissanau Castle which is a Swiss national heritage site, dating back to the 1200s.

The tour involves a calming walk in the pasture to view the herds with a guide, before meeting the “dairyman”.
